This masterpiece by Monet is said to be the origin of the name "Impressionism." It depicts a view of the port of Le Havre in northwestern France, painted with rough brushstrokes, and is famously criticized as being "better than half-finished wallpaper." It was not well-received for a while after its release, and it wasn't considered a masterpiece until some time after Impressionism was recognized by the public.
